Shri Poojya Guru Rayaru
Sri Guru Rayaru is a great avadhuta living in Lakkasandra about 3 kms north of Ghati Subramanya near Bangalore. He was born in Feb 1942, in town called Gubbi in Karnataka. He did Tapasya for 23 long years in Bangalore and various other places. From his early years he has been a precious child, he was not knowing to talk and virtually silent for many years after birth. In this ascepct he has similarity to the great Namma Alwar of Tiru Nagari of the south.
He moved to Lakkasandra in 1970’s into a small dwelling unit and worshiped Raghavendra Brindavan (Mruttika). Many devotees and disciples came around over a period of time and built an imosing structure for Raghavendra Brindavanam. Many holy places and many times he frequented Mantralayam of Raghavendra Swamy. He has been a great devotee of mantralaya Raghavendra Swamy. He call Guru Raghavendra as ‘appa’ meaning father, his divine father.
Sri Guru Rayaru blessed many people and guided several hundred of devotees when ever they were in difficulties in life. He blessed many families by granting them devotion and providing them comfort and ‘Atma Stharya’. He insprired people to render serevice to humanity. He established an order where anna dana (offering food to all devotees who visit him at Lakkasandra. His kitchen runs round the clock and food is served at any time of the day or night and many pious men and holy men visit them. He is very reverential to holy people and sadhus (monks and sanyasis) In later years he wished his devotees to render medical service to the sick and the poor. In reverance to his wish a charitable trust is regesterd and established with 21 devotees. The guiding principle is to serve as Narayana Swarupis. The Trust is called Sadguru Arogya Research Foundation Trust (SARFT). This Trust adopted a medical centre with qualified doctors in Dodballapur promoting Ayurvedic system of medicine.emple Devotees of Vedavyas Bharati Trust along with devotees of Guru Rayaru together built a Temple for Panchamukhi Anjaneya at Lakkasandra.
Sri Guru Rayaru was familiar with Sri Vedavyas Guruji’s life works and his writings. Though both did not meet in person, Sri Guru Rayaru has an inner feeling that he had been very close to him. He guided his team of disciples in and around Bangalore to fulfil Shri Vedavyas Guruji’s wish to establish University of Vedic Sciences. To this effect he guided the devotees to a place in mid way to Bangalore and Tirupati. After the land was purchased he performed the Bhumi pooja himself for the Rishi Vatika main block. In two years time during the Kartika Poornima day in 2013 he inagurated the Rishi Vatika main Ashram Block. He also visited and blessed the devotees during his vist to Vedavyasa & Sapta Rishi Temple.
